A change in structure


Hey guys, so I have some news about Abra The Last Witch: Rebirth.  And it's kinda a tough one.

The game is cancel- naw just kidding, but it is weird news.

If you read any devlog for the game, or watched the videos about it on my Youtube channel, you may notice that the games structure has gone through many changes during development.  First the original freeware version back in June had 6 chapters (well maybe 5 because chapter 6 is barley even a full level) and was linear.  Then in the videos, I said that the game would have a branching path structure like Star Fox 64, with three routes with different stories and difficulty.  Then in the last devlog I did, I said the game would be a linear game with three paths each being a different difficulty, kinda like the OG Star Fox.  

However, I must come clean, I have been a slacker when it comes to making this game, and even if I was Monty Oum levels of productive, the different paths would be too ambitious for the small game that ATLWR is.  

So, I have come here to say that the game will be re-structured, for the last time.  The game will be a linear path from beginning to end, but there will be extra chapters, and the chapter order will be changed.  For example, the current chapter 2 will now be chapter 3, with a new chapter in between chapters 1 and 3.   In total, there will be 9 chapters.

Chapters also will have 5 waves and 1 boss each, instead of 2 waves per chapter.  This will make the game longer by just a bit, because right now, the can be beaten in about 10 minutes.  Now the game should be somewhere between 30-40 min, which is the average length of other arcade shooter.  

The game will feature a different New Game +.  In this mode, you will start out at level 30, but the game becomes much harder, with late game enemies showing up as soon as the first chapter.  There will also a boss rush mode with an extra super boss at the end.  In this mode, the rules of death change.  When you die, you start over, but you stay at level 30.  It's very similar to the Arena mode in the Kirby games.

There will also be rewards for clearing these modes, but I'll save that for another day.

That's all.  I hope this sounds alright to you guys, and this will make development go by so much smoother.
